It’s time to take notice of this crew! Launching the same year the school opened in 2012, the CW Perry Dance Team has been showcasing both their passion and acquired dance skills at various events all over Airdrie.  They are now comprised of approximately 30 students, ranging from grades 5-8. CW Perry teachers and dance team co-directors Krissa Donahue and Roel Suasin have been teaching a variety of styles too, including hip-hop, contemporary, tap, jazz, ballet and lyrical.
When asked what we can expect to see during their performance at ARTember, Suasin informed us “it will consist of student choreography and a good mixture of dance styles.  The goal is for students to share their love for dance and give back to the community for their continued support.”
The community support that he’s referring to is from a series of successful fundraisers that the CW Perry Dance Team has hosted, in an effort to raise money for workshops they’ll be attending in Los Angeles. The team will have an opportunity to learn from professional dancers there, that worked with their coach and teacher Roel Suasin, when he was a dancer for Christina Aguilera, Nelly Furtado, the Black Eyed Peas, Fergie, Jessica Simpson, and Prince. No big deal, right?
We’re very excited to see what they’re bringing to our mainstage! Don’t miss it – 11:45 am, Saturday, October 1.
