Canada 150 Mosaic Project – Paint a Tile!
September 26, 2017 @ 9:00 am - September 27, 2017 @ 8:00 pmFree
Connecting Canada Through Art – Telling the Story of Our Communities
The Canada 150 Mosaic Project is coming to Airdrie, and we want you to have a chance to be a part of it!!!!
Communities across Canada are coming together to create a mural that will connect Canada through Art. Our city will create a section of the mural made up of 400 individual tiles that symbolize our community. This piece will become a stand alone mural showcased in Nose Creek Park and will become part of a visual time capsule for this national unified project of over 80,000 tiles.
We are looking for 330 community members to help paint the mural. Youth and newcomers to Canada are encouraged to join in on the fun!
Not a professional artist? Not a problem! We have people that can help you try something new!…
GET YOUR ART ON:
We are inviting local residents to paint on mosaic tiles in workshops facilitated by our Canada 150 Mosaic team. On 4×4 inch tiles, using brushes & paint, participants will be encouraged to leave their mark by creating a painting that represents their community from their own creative perspective. Every painting will be a story and will become a piece of a much bigger story.
Individuals: We have reserved tiles for professional artists, youth and newcomers to Canada – so please indicate if you belong to any of these groups when you register.
Groups: If your organization would like to sign up as a group, we can accommodate up to 8 people per organization. Groups are responsible to arrange their own transportation and permissions. (One tile to be painted per person.)
Cost: This project is FREE due to the generosity of Creative Airdrie and the Alberta Government.
Painting Schedule: Tuesday, September 26th & Wednesday September 27th, 2017
Teams will be painting in shifts over two days to accommodate our numbers. Each shift is reliant on participants arriving promptly for their designated time slot. Please see below for available times.
What you need to know: Make sure to dress for getting “creative”. Old clothes, and short sleeve shirts are recommended. Photography will also be in progress during the painting shifts to promote and document this historic project.
Registration Deadline: September 15th
