ARTember is already heating up and ready to make this Fall an explosion of fun for the senses!!!
The Creative Airdrie Society (CAS) has been busy organizing the highly anticipated, 7th annual, city wide celebration of Arts & Culture known as… ARTember. They are thrilled to announce that in partnership with several other community partners, this year’s ARTember will run from September 9th to October 1st, as part of Alberta Culture Days. For the first time ever, ARTember will feature an unprecedented 23 days of events and activities for the entire community to experience and enjoy.
ARTember kicks off with airdrieFEST put on by the City of Airdrie and will end in the dedication of a legacy artwork, the Canada 150 Mosaic; created by our own community members, courtesy of the Creative Airdrie Society and the Alberta Government. Various events will be held throughout Airdrie in between, including live theatre, music, food, hands on activities, workshops, face-painting and much more. So be sure to check out the Events page for all the details.
This year will feature beloved staples, like the Ag Society’s – Art of the Harvest, SLAM’s – Song Writing Contest and the Airdrie Food Bank’s – Empty Bowls. There will also be some NEW events like airdrielife’s – TASTEairdrie, Torchlight Theatre’s – Sh-eh-kespeare and the Library’s – Voice & Vision Celebration…
“It’s hard to name them all here, but each event sounds extraordinary and it’s important to remember how much work and time it takes for all these organizations to put these events on. We are really fortunate to live in a city with so many talented and dedicated people.” – Deanna Hunter, CAS Past-Chair
Last year Airdrie was recognized as one of only five provincial “Celebration Sites” during Alberta Culture Days resulting in a personalized tour from the Minister of Culture, Ricardo Miranda. This year, ARTember promises a fresh new feel while still preserving the spirit of past favorites.
“With 2017 being such an important year it was essential to make this ARTember a memorable one. We want to encourage everyone to explore something new, make a connection, get involved and have fun. With so many amazing groups stepping up this year, I guarantee there is something creative for everyone to participate in.” – Jennifer Benner, CAS Chair
